What Happened
On October 29, 2025, Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica as a Category 5 hurricane - one of the most powerful landfalls on record in the Atlantic basin. The storm tore a path of destruction across the island, and Prime Minister Andrew Holness declared all of Jamaica a disaster area.
Our school in Wait-A-Bit, which serves as a beacon of hope for the community, was heavily impacted by Hurricane Melissa. Over 170 communities in the most severely impacted parishes have been affected by flooding, with 490,000 customers left without power across the island.
The building that once housed classrooms, learning materials, and dreams for a better future now lies in ruins. But our commitment to these children and this community remains unshaken.
